Recoil is a durational video work. I use a concrete ball as a tangible weight, it’s heaviness functions as a memory, shaping a new surface for my legs to stand on. As I lift or hold it, my body shifts and moves. This action is leaving a visual along with invisible marks, building and destroying my body. While being in the action, I teach and form muscle memory. Engraving this experience like a militant drill. Like a gun recoil, that keeps striking the body after pushing the trigger. I keep lifting the ball and fatiguing my body in order to make it stronger. 17 min doing one task with no end result.
